The first Italian Tech Tour was held in 2003, and the success stories companies that have since emerged over the last 3 editions, including Expert System and Biongiorno, has prompted Tech Tour to return for a 4th time to Rome. These companies went to IPO and became multinational success stories at the time when there were fewer investment opportunities in the country. Italy today has a better ecosystem for innovation and more companies are starting to emerge, with many of the original Italian success stories actively feeding into the ecosystem and helping a new wave of companies grow. This includes the Italian Tech Tour’s own Co-President Marco Trombetti, Founder and CEO of Translated.net, a leading provider of professional services online, who developed a VC fund Pi Campus, one of Rome’s fastest growing innovation hubs for new high-tech companies.

The Italian market is nascent, and there are opportunities for investors from anywhere in the world to come and be part of this Italian growth and technology scene. Pietro Strada, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Silverpeak technology investment banking, and who acts as Co-President of the Italian Tech Tour had this to say: “There is an increasing number of Italian tech companies that have the size and international footprint to be attractive for international investors. This is one of the “best kept secrets” in the tech investment ecosystem, and some smart investors have already spotted the opportunity”.

The Italian Tech Tour is proudly supported by Pictet, Orrick, Pi Campus, Octo Telematics, Omoove, Euronext, Regione Lazio, Lazio Innova, Start-upLazio!, Roma Start-up, agi Agenzia Italia and Wired.it.
